Gambling from the quiet suburbs of Surrey, England, Darren W. never expected to hit it big when he fired up the slots at the online casino Tropezia Palace.
His poison of choice was the infamous “Hitman” game, a video slot machine that incorporates the titular assassin with a variety of guns, garrotes, knives, pistols and dollar bills in place of the usual fruits and numbers.
Darren placed one bet of £50 and lost, then decided to raise the stakes by taking advantage of Tropezia Palace’s limited time “200% up to £200” offer. He put in £75 for his sophomore spin and received the shock of his life when it paid off thousands of times over.
All in all, Darren walked away with £33,750. But he didn’t let the money languish for long.
A week went by after Tropezia Palace transferred his winnings to his bank account, and despite media interest and the casino’s own staff trying to get in touch with him, Darren was nowhere to be found.
When he eventually resurfaced almost seven days later, he admitted that he’d been out of contact because he’d been away celebrating his victory.
“I’m still shocked,” he confessed in an online statement, adding that his sudden windfall would make a “massive difference” to his life.
“I have never won so much before!” he enthused. “Best casino I’ve ever played at!”
He isn’t the only fan of Tropezia Palace, which shelled out a record-breaking amount of rewards in the month of August. Two winners enjoyed a total of €30,000 from their Net Entertainment slots, and another video game fan, this one playing the Dead or Alive slots, took home €10,166. One Swiss gambler struck gold three times in a row with the free spins of the Space Wars game, netting her a cool €8,687.
As for Darren, he says now that he’s gotten the partying out of his system, he’ll be settling down with his money to pay off his debts and perhaps even find a lucky lady willing to tie the knot.
After all, he says, he can afford it now.
